Casey Kasem’s Wife Allegedly Planning To Bury Him In Norway

According to a government official in Oslo, an application has been filed for radio host Casey Kasem’s burial to take place in Norway.

The dramatic saga surrounding iconic DJ Casey Kasem has not ended, even after he’s found his own peace, unfortunately.

His wife, Jean Kasem, apparently has plans to bury her late husband in Oslo, Norway. A government official revealed that an application has been filed there for his remains. This is an unusual choice, especially since, according to Kasem’s son, Mike, his father had no connection to the country.

“I don’t know if Jean has any ties to Oslo. She certainly has never mentioned it in the last 35 years. Everyone keeps asking for motives as to why Jean acts how she acts. I don’t have an answer,” Mike told Billboard.

He and his sister, Kerri, have been in a long-running dispute with their stepmother since before Kasem passed away from Lewy Body Disease in June. Kerri accused Jean of abusing her father, and still wants a full autopsy done on the body; her accusations are under investigation by California police, where Kasem was staying in a hospital.

However, Jean is allegedly keeping his body away from both children.

At one point, Kasem, who suffered dementia before his death, went missing earlier this year. A private investigator, hired by Mike and Kerri, went searching for him and he was discovered in Washington state. Jean relocated him from Santa Monica, California to Las Vegas and finally to Washington, all without notifying her stepchildren.

She even moved his body to Ontario, Canada after his death–violating a court order–where he will apparently remain until moved to Norway.

Kasem began his career in the 1950s, rising in fame as the host of the American Top 40 radio show and the voice of Shaggy in classic cartoon series Scooby Doo. He passed away at age 82 after a long battle with his disease.
