All of you Star Wars fans may or may not be pleased about the information I am about to deliver to you. It appears that Chewbacca, the infamous Wookiee we all love, may be returning to Star Wars for Episode VII. Den Of Geek has reported that a casting call has been put out, and they are on the look out for an actor who is over seven feet tall. This is what has sparked all the rumors that we may or may not be seeing a Wookiee in the new Star Wars film.
Spotlight, the premier UK casting website, as a recent listing calling for a slim actor over seven foot. The ad reads: “Male, 7 ft to 7 ft 3 tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus.” Sounds awfully like a Wookiee build to us.
It’s been stated that JJ Abrams’ name is listed among others on the casting call, including Kathleen Kennedy, Bryan Burk and Tommy Harper, all of whom are working on the new Star Wars film. The film has been listed as “Untitled Studio Feature”, with a convenient start date of early 2014. This, unsurprisingly, is when the new Star Wars film is supposed to begin filming.
Back in the old days, it was Peter Mayhew, who stood at 7ft 3 inches, who first played the famous Wookiee. The has been no news on whether he will be reprising the role in Episode VII.
