CBS Commits To TV Series For DC Comics’ ‘Supergirl’

Rejoice, Supergirl fans! The series created by Greg Berlanti (Arrow) has gotten the green light, and Ali Adler (The New Normal co-creator) will write the pilot with Berlanti for CBS.

The commitment for the TV adaptation quickly followed the hype around a potential Supergirl series, and will center on a 24-year-old Kara Zor-El from the planet Krypton. After previously hiding her special abilities from society, Kara will reveal her true self and “be the hero she was meant to be”.

Berlanti and Adler will serve as executive producers with Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV.

Supergirl appeared in the CW series Smallville (pre-Superman days) as a regular cast member for one season, and the poorly received 1984 film, but the character hasn’t received a fair chance or the attention she deserves.

I for one, am elated at the chance to see what the series will offer, and cannot wait to find out who will take the mantle of the uber-powerful heroine.
