There is a big surprise in the audition room on American Idol in January 2016. American rapper, Kanye West, comes into the judging room and his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, waits behind the curtain listening in. West is famous for songs including: "Heartless", "Runaway", "Blood On the Leaves", etc. These songs have made spots on Billboard Hot 100 to getting West a Grammy Award.
The judges of American Idol are Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban.
The website, Zap2it, gave the lowdown on how the audition actually went for the star. It is said Kanye otherwise known as Yeezus said, "My name is Kanye, I'm from the South Side of Chicago...Originally a producer, I always wanted to rap and nobody really believed in me." This is like an actual audition for West as he describes where he is from and who he is. He even mentions how people didn't support his rapping career, but as everyone can see, he made it.
His audition song is his famous hit, "Gold Digger," which includes Lopez's name. Behind the scenes, Kardashian-West was chatting with the show's host, Ryan Seacrest. Seacrest is also the Executive Producer for her show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Kardashian-West shares, "I'm not nervous because I really do believe in him...I didn't give him any advice on singing or rapping. I just hope that they really believe in him." From the facial expressions seen on the faces of the judges, West sang and rapped well. This audition looks and is treated like a real audition for the show.
After he finished singing and the judges deliberated, West got the Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week to perform with the rest of the competitors. Zap2it's video of the audition shows West jumping around on the stage excited to move on.
American Idol premiered on January 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
