Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum will be sharing the screen once more and I honestly can’t wait. The duo will star in an as of now untitled musical comedy by Universal. Marc Platt, known for the smash hit musical Wicked, will be producing the untitled project. Gordon-Levitt helped come up with “the idea for the script” which is reportedly about two pilots who encounter some sort of a mishap.

Michael Bacall (Manic) will be writing the script and has previously worked with both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum on their projects Manic and 21 Jump Street. Gordon-Levitt and Tatum will not only be starring in the film, but they’re also on board as producers. Gordon-Levitt will be co-producing with his well-known company hitRECord Films while Tatum will co-produce with his own company Free Association.

Gordon-Levitt announced the exciting news via Twitter with the caption “Me and that boi Chang gonna go get it. Finally..” while linking the announcement made by The Hollywood Reporter.

Gordon-Levitt’s excitement is clear and mine is hard to handle. Having Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt side by side for a musical comedy? Sign me up immediately! Anything brought to us by these two heavy hitters is bound to be an enjoyable watch – having them singing and dancing will be the cherry on top of this extravagantly decorated sundae. I’m imagining 500 Days of Summer mixed with Wicked.

The two last shared the screen in 2008’s war-drama Stop-Loss (directed by Kimberly Peirce), a significantly less cheery film about a “veteran soldier [who] returns from his completed tour of duty in Iraq, only to find his life turned upside down when he is arbitrarily ordered to return to field duty by the Army.” The film also stars Ryan Phillipe, Abbie Cornish, Rob Brown, Victor Rasuk and Timothy Olyphant. Stop-Loss is an emotional watch from start to finish and each actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt in particular, move the audience with their powerful performances.

If the pair’s chemistry in Stop-Loss is any indication then the two’s chemistry in the untitled musical comedy will absolutely electrify audience members.
