Charli XCX Announces New Album, ‘Sucker’

If you don’t know the name Charli XCX off the top of your head in today’s era, you’d be one of the only ones.

If you don’t know the name Charli XCX off the top of your head in today’s era, you’d be one of the only ones. While the singer-songwriter has sought more acclaim for her featured works than her own singles at this point, she is gearing up for a major label comeuppance in her upcoming Sucker, set to be released on October 21, 2014.

You may know her without knowing her name, currently, for her work on the HUMONGOUS smash hit “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea or the EQUALLY GIGANTIC anthem “(I Don’t Care) I Love It” by Icona Pop. That was her voice on the hook and her co-writer’s credits in the liner notes for both singles. Her debut Sucker single, “Break The Rules”, encapsulates the infectious “electropunk” stylings of her previous hits and sets them against a more urban EDM-y backdrop. For those who are fans of that scene, Charli is pretty much at the top of the heap right now and this rebellious anthem proves exactly why this is.

Currently, Charli is a fan favorite for potentially acquiring the awards associated with several MTV VMA nominations, including Best Female Video, Best Art Direction, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year, all for “Fancy”.
