Chase Coy’s newest project, Youth, will be available later this month, and I anticipated that it would be a breath of fresh air.
It hasn’t disappointed.
Chase’s vocals are so soothing, and the emotion he carries in each song is almost tangible.
"Before" is a powerful anthem about love, demanding your attention both lyrically and rhythmically. You’ll have it on repeat, believe me.
“Practice” also stands out, a deeply somber track that will bring back memories of a past yearned for.
"I Loved You Once” is aptly named—it’s a soft, beautiful instrumental of reflection, but not of regret.
“Busy” features layered vocals and a vivid rhythm that’s definitely one of my favorites.
What I love most about Chase’s approach is how cohesive his message, vocals, and rhythms are. They work effortlessly together, and paint these pictures as I listen that blow me away. They capture just the right amount of storytelling without being corny or over-the-top.
Youth ends on a perfect note with “Each Shallow Breath,” which manages to reflect its title almost impossibly in lyrics and beat.
The album wraps up neatly with its themes of loss and reminiscing on a passionate bond, and the strength that can come of it—in this case, that strength is showcased in a beautiful work of music.
Pre-order Youth on iTunes now and receive two brand new songs free. It will be released on June 23.
