Chiller Unveils Plans And Schedule For Their Wednesday's Anime Block | chiller

Soon enough, fans of anime will be able to watch animes not only on Adult Swim’s Toonami, but on Chiller’s new-found supernatural-horror anime block as well. On Tuesday, Chiller announced that Wednesdays have now been dubbed Anime Wednesdays on their channel and will feature an anime block that runs from 12 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. This is Chiller’s first anime block since 2009, when they aired Descendants of Darkness, Tokko and Sword of Truth. They also aired other animes such as Vampire Wars, Blood: The Last Vampire and Ninja Scroll.

Chiller’s new Wednesday supernatural/horror-anime block, which is hopefully here to stay, will air Is This a Zombie?  at 12 a.m., Tokyo Majin  at 12:30 a.m., Devil May Cry  at 1 a.m., and Black Blood Brothers  finishing the block off at 1:30 a.m. The titles on Chiller’s welcome new block lean more on the supernatural side of the spectrum rather than horror. Is This a Zombie?  is more of a supernatural comedy that revolves around a teenager that’s brought back to life as a zombie. Funimation licensed and released both seasons of the series on Blu-ray and DVD. In fact, the other three titles (Tokyo Majin, Devil May Cry  and Black Blood Brothers) have also been licensed and released by Funimation.

Tokyo Majin focuses on a group of 5 students who fight demonic entities while protecting the city of Tokyo. They realize that the end is near not just for Tokyo, but for the world as well. Devil May Cry, which is based on CAPCOM’s popular action-horror video game franchise, centers on demon hunter Dante who happens to be half human and half demon. Last up on the block is Black Blood Brothers, a horror-drama series that chronicles the adventures of vampires Jirou and his younger brother Kotaro as they go up against the dangerous Kowloon Children.

The block is off to a decent start and I’m hoping these following horror/thriller/supernatural based series make their way onto Chiller’s block one day:

  • Shiki

  • Another

  • Future Diary

  • Serial Experiments Lain

  • Tokyo Ghoul

  • Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate

  • Higurashi When They Cry

  • Deadman Wonderland

  • Flowers of Evil

  • Boogiepop Phantom

  • Paranoia Agent

  • Mononoke

  • Attack on Titan

  • Death Note

  • Parasyte-the maxim-

  • Akame ga Kill!

  • Elfen Lied

  • Blood+

What are your thoughts on Chiller’s anime block? Do you approve of the animes being shown? If not, which would you like to see in the future? Let us know in the comments below!
