Christina Jewell Shares New Single “Snow”

“’Snow’ is a very warm ‘easy listening’ song with a cheerful view of the holiday season….”

Having already earned herself a considerable following on both sides of the Atlantic, together with support and coverage from the likes of Rolling Stone, Christina Jewell, inspired by Taylor Swift and Lana del Rey to name just two, has, since first arriving on the music scene, proven herself to be a multi-talented artist whose vision stretches across her vast and varied career as a performer, actress, model and director. Today, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere her brand new single “Snow” and its video.

Christina shares of the new track: “’Snow’ is a very warm ‘easy listening’ song with a cheerful view of the holiday season. It calls back to childhood memories of that first big snowfall and familiar coziness. The track is sparsely decorated with guitar, bass, light synth and drums, leaving space for the vocal melody and harmonies to shine. We wrote and recorded this song at home last year in November. My boyfriend, Jesse Fogel, (credited on previous songs) will sometimes record full songs and just present them to me for lyrics. That’s exactly what happened with “snow.” And of course, it was snowing that morning…I am a huge fan of the winter months here in Canada, growing up I was all about the snow! This song is very close to me in that way, I tried to explain what makes the holidays pop for me. But I’m not impervious to bouts of seasonal depression – as the song goes, “got my cup of tea boy I do enjoy that, but I feel slightly so sad about it, this season hit differently ain’t no two ways about it.””

Asked about the influences that inspired the track, she adds: “For the vibe and melody, I was influenced by the Ariana record “Positions” and Taylor Swift’s “Christmas Tree Farm.” I got a chance to rework the production with my friend Quinton Barnes, who is a very intuitive musician with many self-produced albums. We also had a great time adding his voice to “snow”, you will hear the choral harmonies layered in a few refrains and verses.”
