At the end of March, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow ended their relationship after 10 years of marriage. The cause of their separation was not very clear; however, some elements have recently surfaced and could explain why the couple decided to split. Indeed, a source told the New York Post that the Coldplay singer cheated on Gwyneth with an SNL assistant after his NBC show performance in 2011, thus triggering huge tensions between the two. “He had an affair with a woman who was backstage and was part of an entourage," the source said. "Everyone was talking about it because he was openly flirting with her at one of the show after parties.” However, Chris' spokesman, Murray Chalmers, declared that this rumor was, in fact, false, "This is completely untrue, we totally deny it." It's going to be tricky to separate fact from fiction. Sources have previously claimed that the couple had an open marriage. Other sources told US Weekly that Gwyneth often mocked Chris, “Gwyneth would snipe and … say things to him like ‘You're such a moron.’ Chris couldn't take it anymore.” Their neighbors even gave their own version and declared that the lovers were constantly arguing and quarrelling. They also described Gwyneth as detestable and insisted on the fact that Chris was humble and kind. It seems that we are not going to get the bottom of this story for the moment. However, one thing is for sure: the couple's relationship was no paradise.
