One of the stars of a popular 2015 film, The Big Short, made a scandal at the Critics Choice Awards last weekend (Jan. 17). The award show premiered on A&E Network.
The star was Christian Bale. Christian Bale's great acting job as Michael Burry won him an award as the best actor in a comedy. He starred in the film along with Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, and Marisa Tomei.
After Bale heard his name being called for Best Actor in a Comedic Film, he shared a kiss wit director Adam McKay and screenwriter Charles Randolph. This was a big shocker for everyone at the awards and when Bale came up, he joked about it.
"That was just a lovely makeout session with my life and with Adam and with Charles [Randolph, The Big Short screenwriter]," Bale said in his acceptance speech. "We all really got to know each other very well on this film."
Besides speaking out about the makeout session between him and the director and screenwriter, Bale also mentioned his family. Bale spoke about how his wife and daughter kept him on his toes during filming because Bale gets to play dress up and be someone completely different.
When The Big Short won for best comedic film, the kisses were mentioned again because it was just so funny and showed how close the cast and crew were to each other. When McKay went up to the microphone to help accept the award, he joked, "That's collaborative love between Christian and I. Don't judge it. It's what fuels movies like this."
During the award for best comedy, Bale kissed the director yet again.
This was definitely an exciting show and Bale made it great.
