The future is not looking bright for a Justice League movie. Well, at least for a Justice League movie that includes Christian Bale’s Dark Knight.
Earlier this year, rumor had it that Bale was meeting with Christopher Nolan about the possible ensemble film. Those rumors were swiftly quashed by Man of Steel co-writer David S Goyer.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bale made it quite clear that he will not be putting the bat suit back on any time soon.
"We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]," the seasoned actor stated. "That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy.
"Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying, ‘We’re about to make the third’. We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well."
Bale believes that his Batman ship has sailed and that it’s time to pass the honor on to another actor: “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”
Bale denies any knowledge of a potential Justice League franchise, despite the numerous rumors floating around largely in part to the huge success of Zach Snyder’s Superman reprisal, Man of Steel.
"I have no information, no knowledge about anything," Bale reiterated. "I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it.”
