The music video for Christina Perri’s single “Human” premiered on January 3.
The theme is simple, yet beautiful. The scenes constantly shift,–between Perri and the inner workings of some machinery, between light and shadow, and between Perri as a human and as a robot—courtesy of some impressive artistic direction. There are no frills to distract from her vocals and the deeper meaning of the song.

According to Digital Spy, the song was produced by Boys Like Girls’ frontman Martin Johnson.
“Human” is the first single on Perri’s sophomore album, entitled Head or Heart. The songstress unveiled the cover art for the album just a few days ago on her Instagram.
Perri spoke to Radio.com last month about her struggle to produce another album after her 2011 debut, lovestrong.
“I didn’t want to do anything that wasn’t genuine, and I was afraid of phoning it in or forcing anything. I remember laying on the floor of my house just crying. Good crying and sad crying at the same time. I was just trying to believe the things that had happened,” she revealed.
Head or Heart was three years in the making, but it will certainly be keeping her busy this year.
Following the release of her album, the 27-year-old will be headlining her 33-date Head or Heart North American Tour from April through May.
Head or Heart is now available on iTunes for pre-order, and will be released on March 11.
