Christine McVie Admits She Wants To Rejoin Fleetwood Mac

They’ve had something of a notoriously tumultuous history, but could Fleetwood Mac be about to put their differences behind them once and for all and reunite on a permanent basis? Christine McVie certainly hopes so.

McVie, Fleetwood Mac’s singer and songwriter behind classics such as “Songbird” and “Don’t Stop”, left the group in 1998. “I suffered from some kind of delusion that I wanted to be an English country girl, a Sloane Ranger or something” she told The Guardian, “… and it took me 15 years to realise that it’s not really what I wanted at all.” Following these wilderness years as far as life in the spotlight is concerned, McVie is now considering a return to the stage.

In London this year McVie performed with Fleetwood Mac for the first time in 15 years, making a special appearance at the O2 Arena to sing “Don’t Stop”. This has reignited a flame in McVie, The Guardian reports: “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them… I miss them all. If they were to ask me [to rejoin] I would probably be very delighted.”

Could a permanent reunion be on the cards? McVie’s former bandmate Stevie Nicks doesn’t seem to be adverse to the idea. Speaking to Digital Spy in September prior to McVie’s appearance, Nicks said that she was “thrilled” Christine had decided to join the band onstage even if only for one night. “She’s been very, very missed, so even to have her back for a little while is going to be good.”.

The signs are certainly positive for a future reunion, however McVie has mentioned that it hasn’t been discussed yet. This is in part due to the recent diagnosis of John McVie, Christine’s ex husband and Fleetwood Mac’s bassist, with cancer. The band have cancelled a portion of their tour while John receives treatment, and hope to resume once he recovers. Says Christine on the future: “It’s a long way down that path if it ever were to happen. John’s got to get well first, so it hasn’t been talked about. We’ll have to wait and see.”
