Bring on the nostalgia! A selection of classic video games have been made available to play online for free. This selection includes games from the 70s and 80s that were originally made for consoles like Atari 2600 and Colecovision, such as Pacman, Space Invaders and Frogger.  The site responsible for this is the Internet Archive. "In coming months, the playable software collection will expand greatly. Making these vintage games available to the world, instantly, allows for commentary, education, enjoyment and memory for the history they are part of," archivist Jason Scott wrote. The games do not feature sound at the moment but it will be added pretty soon. For many years, gamers have created ROMS [read-only-memory- images of games] that can be played on a PC by using an emulator. However, this way of gaming is illegal in many cases, especially when the games involved are made by Nintendo and Sega. Older games like the ones featured on the Internet Archive fall into a legal grey area. With the rise of smartphone gaming nowadays, some companies have begun eying the opportunity to revive old titles. Check out the selection of free video games here.
