Shoot First, Ask Later: Cleveland Police Kill 12-Year-Old Tamir Rice

In what is an unsurprising – and that’s tragic in and of itself – development, Cleveland Police have shot and killed a 12-year-old boy.

The victim, Tamir Rice (Rest In Power), was in the playground area of a recreation centre when he was shot in the torso. Twice.

Let me reiterate that for you. A boy, on a playground, in a recreation centre, was shot dead by police. Literally the most innocent of settings, but these monsters could not care less.

According to ‘officers’ (I use the term incredibly, incredibly loosely), the boy pulled a fake gun from his waistband. They admit he raised the ‘gun’ when he was asked to raise his hands, even though he did not point it at them.

The 911 call, placed on Saturday, was released by Cleveland Police and details the call from the man who was across the street from the park.

There is a guy with a pistol, it’s probably fake, but he’s pointing it at everyone.

He also makes sure to later mention that the gun is more than likely a fake, adding, “He’s probably a juvenile.”

He was right on both counts. Tamir was only 12 and the ‘gun’ was an airsoft-esque type, a BB gun toy. The police claim to not have been informed of either point.

Didn’t stop police from killing a child. But hey, what has?

Don’t even try the “officers feared for their life” bullshit. These are grown men with weapons against a boy with a toy.

Police are disgusting. Rest In Power, Tamir Rice. You won’t be forgotten.
