Club Mango Chats Debut Single “One You Need”

“I just wanted it to have a summery vibe with Latin American rhythms and melodies that just make everyone want to get up and dance!”

As a fan of the Spanish club scene, Latin American music and culture, Daniel Aparicio, going under the name of Club Mango, recently unveiled his first single “One You Need” featuring Vadi and JAEL, which particularly through its instrumentation reflects these passions and addresses the complexities of relationships while expressing hope for a better future and a better world. PopWrapped caught up with Daniel to learn when and how he first got into music, the inspiration behind his debut release and which artist he’d most like to collaborate with.

How did you first get into music? When did you realise, or decide, that this was the career path you wanted to take?

I started playing the violin and studying classical music when I was very young all the way through to when I turned 18. Although my music education was more performance targeted, I was always making music with my musician friends at every opportunity. In 2017 I started studying the Music Production & Sound Engineering degree at Point Blank Music School in London and it was then that I really got into the production side of things.

Tell us about your new single “One You Need” and how you came to work with Vadi and JAEL.

“One You Need” is Club Mango’s first single. I just wanted it to have a summery vibe with Latin American rhythms and melodies that just make everyone want to get up and dance! The idea for the song began in December 2020 during the pandemic in cold, wet London. Like many people I was fed up with being indoors and missing out on the simple pleasures in life like live music and dancing. I just wanted to be on a beach somewhere like the Caribbean having a great time and not worrying about any of the usual 2020 issues that everyone was feeling across the world.

Working with JAEL and Vadi has been great, although slightly different because of the pandemic. It has all been done remotely which is how a lot of collaborations were done last year. JAEL and I are from London and Vadi is from Spain so we just came together on Zoom and got it done that way. This has proven to us that making music is possible no matter where we are if we all work as a team towards the same goal!

There sounds like lots of different genres and influences in the track. What most inspired you when creating it?

Although I love loads of different genres like pop, metal, rock, EDM…I’ve always loved the Latin music. I’m very attached to the Latin culture as my partner is Venezuelan and I really love the good vibes that the rhythms and melodies transmit. Some of these characteristic rhythms are super simple but as soon as you hear them it seems like they are forcing your body to dance to them and get you in a good mood. When I listen to Latin American music I get such a joyous and fun feeling, and that is the feeling I wanted to portray on “One You Need.”

You’ve put the record out with Point Blank Recordings – can you tell us more about this school and what it does for new artists?

I am very happy to be releasing on Point Blank Recordings! Working with them is amazing and it is great that they support the students, and former students, with their vast experience in the music industry by giving us a platform in which to put out our work. I’m very grateful for this opportunity!

If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be?

I’d love to collaborate with as many artists as possible as I believe that would help me grow as an artist and develop my music, but If I had to pick one today, I’d choose Bad Bunny.

Tell us something about you that we don’t know….

Two of my favorite hobbies are motorcycles and skiing.

Finally then, with the world slowly getting back to normal and live music coming back, what’s next for Club Mango?

You can expect a lot of new music and great collaborations with various artists from different parts of the world. My next single is out on 13th August, then my debut EP will be soon after that. I hope everyone can enjoy the music in the clubs soon!
