Coheed and Cambria Reveal Details About New Album ‘The Unheavenly Creatures’

Prog-rock virtuosos Coheed and Cambria are back with release date, cover art, and preorder for upcoming album ‘The Unheavenly Creatures’, due October.

It’s a wonderful day in the world of Coheed and Cambria, Roadrunner Records’ newest addition and the best storytellers in music (yeah, I said it). The band has been teasing fans for the better part of three days with a cryptic revealing of artwork, and today they shared details about their new album, Vaxis Act 1: The Unheavenly Creatures

Fans were given a taste of the album when the group released their first cut “The Dark Sentencer” a few weeks back. If that song is any indication of what the rest of the 78-minute long LP will sound like, …phew, man. It’s going to be powerful. Claudio Sanchez warned us that this was coming, but it seems Coheed and Cambria have really outdone themselves this time.

The Unheavenly Creatures steps back into an arc within the Amory Wars universe, and marks the return to conceptual storytelling by Sanchez, something fans have been dying for in the wake of their last release The Color Before the Sun. Not much has been revealed about the story itself just yet, but we’ll find out when the album is released on October 5th.

Limited Edition Boxed Set Presale

The upcoming album is available now for preorder on Coheed and Cambria’s website. The limited edition boxed set includes expansive, vivid imagery by artist Chase Stone, demos, novel written by Claudio Sanchez and Chondra Echert, tri-fold poster, certificate of authenticity, “black card” that grants fans early access to tickets entry to shows, and “Creature” mask, designed by Sanchez. General preorder on all platforms will begin on June 29th. For details, click here.
