Coldplay only released their sixth studio album, Ghost Stories
, this past May and have been promoting it ever since, with the release of its live version only released last week. However, it doesn't seem the band can be stopped - well, at least for now. As it seems, the next record is already in the works and it also has a title already, but it could very well be the last one for the group.
Frontman Chris Martin recently sit down for an interview
and discussed the band's current state and their future plans. As he revealed, Coldplay's seventh record is already in development and it will be titled A Head Full Of Dreams
. In addition to that, they have plans of taking the new music out there on tour. However, he also made public that it could be the final effort from him and his bandmates, causing a whole lot of breakdowns. In his own words:
"We right in the middle of [recording] … It’s our seventh thing and the way we look at it it’s like the last Harry Potter book. That’s not to say there won’t be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. It was great to go from Ghost Stories right back into the studio. Now, we’re making things that sound different. It’s a very fun time to be in our band. I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing, otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it."
There's not really much to say about this, as the loss of Coldplay as an act will definitely not be a good thing for the music industry. All we can do is hope they change their minds and don't go on a hiatus after that.
