Samantha Stratton Staff Writer @sammydavisiamThe knockout round on NBC’s The Voice is no more. The contestants will still sing to avoid sudden death, except this time it will be with the help of Coldplay front man Chris Martin. It was announced today that the hit NBC show, which is continually tweaking its format, will be adding a new sudden death round where instead of contestants battling each other with the song of their choice, they will now have to each perform the same song. This is where Martin will lend his hand. He will star in March 31, April 1 and 7 episodes, serving as a guest mentor for the contestants. Although this round has changed, judges will still be allowed one steal. Host Carson Daly and mentor Usher hinted at this change weeks ago at a special Voice screening, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Daly said at the event: "Every season, we do reserve the right to look back and say, how do we tweak this show to keep what's important - authentic music and the highest level on talent - onscreen, with four of the biggest people in music? And with that do come some tweaks. There might be some surprises this year." Martin joins a long list of mentors for season six. Other celebrity guests include The Band Perry, Miranda Lambert, Jill Scott, and Aloe Blacc. Do you think Martin will be a good guest mentor? Let us know below!
