A few weeks ago, we brought you the good news about David Tennant coming back to the role of the 10th Doctor for a series of audio plays from UK based production company, Big Finish. The news was met with a little skepticism and hesitation from die-hard Whovians because how could news this good be true? Well, it is! Big Finish have finally confirmed Tennant's return the Doctor Who universe in a press release on Monday. They also confirmed that joining Tennant will be Catherine Tate, reprising her role as beloved companion, Donna Noble.
Big Finish have been producing original Doctor Who audio plays for classic Doctors for some time and recently acquired the rights to the newer Doctor Who characters. Recently released audio plays include adventures with Captain Jack Harkness and a series of new Torchwood stories. Coming out in January is a new series featuring Alex Kingston, reprising her role as River Song in The Diary Of River Song.
Tennant and Tate are returning for a three episode collection called The Tenth Doctor Adventures beginning with Technophobia. The full synopsis for the episode reads:
When the Doctor and Donna visit London’s Technology Museum for a glimpse into the future, things don’t go to plan.
The most brilliant IT brain in the country can’t use her computer. More worrying, the exhibits are attacking the visitors, while outside, people seem to be losing control of the technology that runs their lives.
Is it all down to simple human stupidity, or is something more sinister going on?
Beneath the streets, the Koggnossenti are waiting. For all of London to fall prey to technophobia...
The Tenth Doctor Adventures are scheduled for release in May of 2016 and will be available on CD and for digital download.
Big Finish have released a video of Tennant and Tate chatting about working together and being the Doctor. But since we have to wait until May for more 10, you can see Tennant in the upcoming Netflix series Marvel's Jessica Jones as he takes on the part of villainous Kilgrave.
