The Police Department of Bay Village, Ohio have been able to identify
the people behind the ALS Ice Bucket prank. The prank involved dumping a bucket of urine and feces on their autistic teen classmate.
Authorities have not released the name of the perpetrators, as the investigation is still ongoing according to Mark Spaetzal, the Bay Village Police Chief.
The prank, which is a distortion of the ALS Ice Bucket challenge in which people are called to throw a bucket of ice water over their head to raise awareness for the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis disease, has received wide condemnation. It has prompted three celebrities to make donations for the capture of those behind it.
Jenny McCarthy, Donnie Wahlberg, and Ohio native Drew Carey have each pledged $10,000 as a reward to aid in the investigation.
The prank was discovered by the mother of the 15-year-old autistic victim when she checked her son's phone and discovered a video showing him getting drenched by dark murky water. "He was embarrassed because he did not know what the contents were until afterwards, and then he didn't want anybody to know," the horrified mother told WJW-TV in Cleveland "They used his phone to tape it, and they put it up on Instagram."
