When Courtney Love tweeted a picture of herself with Hole’s founding guitarist, Eric Erlandson, late last year, she sparked quite the conversation! Rumours have been flying that the band maybe due for a reunion. Love has finally confirmed that she is, in fact, reuniting the band’s classic line up composed of Erlandson, Melissa Auf Der Maur, and Patty Schemel.
In an interview with the Quietus on April 1, she said “I started playing with Patty and Melissa and Eric, just to see how that was. We already played like three or four times in the last week”.
Hole originally formed in 1989, with Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson as founding members; Patty Schemel joined in 1992, while Melissa Auf Der Maur didn’t join until 1994. Hole would go on to become one of the most successful female fronted rock bands in history, and to date has sold 3 million records. The group officially disbanded in 2002, and briefly reformed in 2012, with only Love returning among the original members.
