Craig Ferguson Gets A New Talk Show!

Craig Ferguson is getting a new talk show, Join or Die with Craig Ferguson, on The History Channel. It will focus on historical events, surely with humor.

There are very few pieces of news that make me scream with joy. New medical innovations, great humanitarian work and, of course, the news that Craig Ferguson will make his triumphant return to the talk show format, and it is going to be one for the history books…literally!

The show, entitled Join or Die with Craig Ferguson, will air on The History Channel and center on Ferguson discussing historical issues and moments with a panel of guests, including celebrities, historians, politicians and a whole bunch of other intellectuals (can you believe it — The History Channel producing something about history? The times we live in!)

The show doesn’t have a premiere date, but hopefully it will be pretty soon in the future. Anyone who has seen Craig doing his show knows that the Scottish comedian knows his history, and, in addition to being a hilarious performer, he also has quite a brain. The show’s title is also extraordinarily significant, because it is a reference to the political cartoon drawn by Benjamin Franklin in the times of the Revolutionary War. Ferguson aficionados know that the cartoon has significance to him, and, after he became a US citizen, he had it tattooed on his forearm.

This show marks a great return to television for Ferguson, who signed out of his long-running talk show last year to pursue other projects. Since then, he’s hosted the lukewarm-received game show Celebrity Name Game, made his fourth hilarious stand-up special and filmed a pilot, The King of 7B, which was tragically not picked up.  Hopefully Join or Die will signify his continuation of doing what he does best — being an insanely intelligent and brilliantly funny performer and intellectual.
