Cruel Intentions Continuation Will Be Adapted As A TV Series

The beloved 1990’s cult classic film Cruel Intentions is coming to our television screens as a far off sequel, set to air on NBC.

90’s kids are in for a treat! The 1999 drama/thriller film Cruel Intentions is getting a sequel in an unexpected way – a television series. The film that starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, and Ryan Phillippe will now be returning in a far-off sequel about the 16 year old son of Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove. NBC has ordered the series script, which will be penned and directed by the original writer and director of the film, Roger Kumble. In addition to Kumble’s important presence, Variety additionally reported that Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross will co-write the pilot at the very least. The pair has had success with Cruel Intentions fans and the original stars of the film, creating a positively received musical version of the cult classic that the entire cast has attended and praised this year.

The official description as of now explains, “The present-day ‘Cruel Intentions’ reboot will center around the 16-year-old son of the late Sebastian Valmont (played by Phillippe in the film) and Annette Hargrove (played by Witherspoon), named Bash Casey. Upon finding his late father’s journal, Bash learns of the family legacy he didn’t know existed. In search of answers, he trades his small-town Kansas upbringing for a scholarship to the prestigious Brighton Preparatory Academy in San Francisco and soon finds himself in a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.”

The concept as well as the original creator’s involvement has me highly optimistic for a Cruel Intentions series, and you can rest assured this is one of the biggest examples of joyous nostalgia I could possibly experience! As someone who has watched the original film countless times, memorized lines, and could continuously gush about the creative film with fantastic performances, I cannot wait to see what the series will throw at us next. I also wouldn’t mind getting a few cameos from the original stars if possible either – Who else is dying to know what life is like for the queen of mean, Kathryn Merteuil, (played by the versatile actress, SMG) the best character from the original film. Are you as excited as I am for a Cruel Intentions series?
