The Grammy Awards are well known for bringing the biggest names in the music industry together and showcasing them for the world to see, and with the first wave of performers announced for the event, I think it’s safe to say the 2014 Grammys are going to be spectacular. Daft Punk, the French electronic music duo will be taking the stage in their first televised performance since their last Grammy's appearance in 2008. Executive Producer of the awards show, Ken Ehrlich told Rolling Stone: “We learned that because they had such a good experience with us when they appeared with Kanye in 2008, they were happy to discuss a performance on this year's show. Conversations took place over a period of a couple of months, and finally they agreed to be a part of this year's telecast. Details of the performance are still being worked out, but the idea of having the exclusive television performance by this iconic band is something we're very, very excited about.” Daft Punk are nominated for four awards including Album of The Year for Random Access Memories and Record of the Year for “Get Lucky”. According to Ehrlich, the duo have decided to perform “A collaborative and celebratory stage performance that honors their multi-nominated music”. Here’s hoping that means that Pharrell will join them on stage to perform “Get Lucky,” which has been nominated for Pop Performance of the Year. Other performers announced include P!nk and Nate Ruess, seven time nominated Kendrick Lamar who will reportedly take the stage with Imagine Dragons, and Merle Haggard who will make his Grammy performance debut when he takes part in a “Grammy Moment” alongside Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Blake Shelton. The 56th Annual Grammy Awards take place on January 26, 2014 and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8pm. And don’t forget to keep an eye on PopWrapped for more performance announcements as they happen.
