This Tuesday the blu-ray set of The Walking Dead season 3 was released.

Some the special features contained on these are deleted scenes, commentaries, and among other incredible zombie stuff there’s a featurette that looks back on the notable deaths this season.

Curious thing is, an important death was left out: Milton’s.

Milton’s death was a relevant part of the season finale, so it’s a bit weird that they left it out of the special features.

FearNet spoke with Dallas Roberts, who played Milton, about his character’s death.

“I found out for sure [that I would die] when we were shooting three episodes before. I got a call from Glen Mazzara, who was the showrunner at the time, and he said, ‘I’m calling to let you know that Milton is going to kick it.’ I had seen it coming, so I was like, ‘Great! How? Let’s make it fun.’ So it was a good phone call”

Roberts continued: “I knew I wouldn’t be long for the show. There was one of two ways it could have gone. Milton could have escaped the Governor’s clutches and be assimilated into the prison group; or that he was there as a function of this storyline. It kept reinforcing itself that he was just a function of this storyline and he needed to go through the quandaries that he did, and go out. I was happy to do my time there.”

Milton Mamet was a member of The Governor’s group. He was a researcher for Woodbury who regularly performed experiments on zombies.

Fans can get ready for season four with the traditional five-disc set or one of the special edition sets (which, by the way, has two compartments that you can add water to with floating zombie heads!).

The Walking Dead will be back on our screens on October 13th on AMC.
