A Fox representative has confirmed that Damon Wayans Jr. will be returning to his role of “Coach” on the hit show New Girl for the third season.
Wayans was on the show in the first season, but had to leave due to his commitments to the ABC show Happy Endings, but with that show being cancelled he is free to return to his own story arc.
Fans weren’t the only ones wanting the actor back!
New Girl star Jake Johnson said he’d be “surprised” if the character of Coach didn’t make a visit every now and then. “There would be such funny episodes with Coach, seeing what’s happened in the past two years since he’s [been] gone.”
The third season is set to premiere Tuesday, September 17, at 9 p.m. following Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
