Daneil Bruhl is currently at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival presenting The Fifth Estate and Rush. Bruhl, however, has another project under his belt.
Bruhl has landed the lead role in director Michael Winterbottom’s The Face Of An Angel.
The psychological thriller is based on the book written by Barbie Latza Nadeaua called Angel Face, which is about the controversial Amanda Knox trial.
Winterbottom’s film, however, won’t necessarily focus on a character based on Amanda Knox. Winterbottom has also asserted that he doesn’t plan to take sides on the trial. “I have no view on whether they did it, the film will not be about that,” he explained back in 2011.
According to Screen Daily, the story follows a “troubled filmmaker who is researching a sensational murder trial in Italy.”
It becomes more personal for the filmmaker character as he realizes he should spend more time with his daughter. Paul Viragh wrote the script. Winterbottom explains that in the midst of the trial, the victim is forgotten.
He said: “The idea is that in any case like this, the victim disappears. They talk about the intrigue of who committed the crime.”
The film also stars Cara Delevingne and Valerio Mastandrea. Filming begins this November in Siena and Rome.
