I'll admit, it's still somewhat difficult for me to see Daniel Radcliffe as anything other than the adorable actor who we all watched grow up onscreen in the Harry Potter
However, he's been taking over the world for the past couple of years with a much more adult (and very attractive, obviously) persona, and really, you can't help but fall in love with him all over again.
Radcliffe recently sat down Out
magazine for an interview, where he talked about his new role in the comedy What If,
as well as a few other things. You know what I learned? He isn't afraid to drop a few f-bombs.
He's excited about his comedic venture in What If
, alongside costars Zoe Kazan and Adam Driver.
"I’m just very excited to be in a modern film where I’m playing a 21st-century person. I think it’s sort of an occupational hazard of growing up as an actor in Britain: you do a lot of period stuff because we have the sets. So, yeah, I'm definitely excited for [viewers] to see me in what I feel is a more natural, more modern, and more familiar setting. Also, growing up, most of what I watched was comedy, so I’ve always wanted to get into that. Hopefully I make people laugh," the 25-year-old said.
He added that he and his character, Wallace, share a lot in common with their humor. He's always loved comedy; The Office
and Alan Partridge
were his favorites back home.
Radcliffe is a busy bee with all of the gigs he's been getting lately, but when he gets some free time, sports are his thing: "The great thing about football in this country is, when it starts, it’s on from like 1 p.m. in the afternoon until about 11 p.m. at night. And I can quite happily just sit there all day and watch that. But other than that, I do find that New York’s a great city to walk around in, particularly in the summer, and I’ll just kind of walk up by the West Side highway and people-watch—the normal boring stuff."
appeared on the cover of Out
this month, prompting the interviewer to ask Radcliffe his opinion on the inspiring young NFL star.
"I think it’s fucking awesome. It’s fantastic that he’s got a team. It’s horrendous that he slipped to 249 after being the SEC defensive player of the year. People can say whatever they like about his athleticism, or not fitting the bill for certain conditions or whatever, but the fact is no player in the last six years to win that award has been drafted lower than 16th overall, I think. So it’s sad that that was an issue. But I think he’s amazing, frankly. In interviews, at no point does he allow himself to be portrayed as a victim or someone who deserves extra sympathy," Radcliffe declared.
Finally, possibly the most unique Harry Potter
question that he's ever been asked: Whose HP character's style would he steal?
The answer? Sirius Black.
"He’s just got, like, a whole collection of slightly ragged but like floor-length frock coats and cool jackets and stuff like that," Radcliffe said.
