Daniel Radcliffe Says Nobody Wants Him As Christian Grey

The controversial topic of the Fifty Shades of Grey casting continues, only this time, Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is at the center of it.

In a recent interview with MTV News at TIFF, Radcliffe recounted an incident where someone had told him that the world was in uproar because he wasn’t playing the coveted role of Christian Grey.

He then jokingly added “And I’m like ‘If this is uproar, it’s inaudible.’”

He laughingly gave his personal opinion on him even being considered for the part.

Radcliffe said: “I think there was approximately no people wanting me to play Christian Grey, including myself.”

Daniel seems to be pleased with his Fifty Shades snub, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world is. In the months leading up to the casting of the Fifty Shades film, fans of sexy actors everywhere have taken to the internet to vote for their favourite stars to play Christian and Anastasia.

The voting polls were endless as vampires topped the list with Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard along with Matt Bomer being the most popular choices for Christian Grey.

Nothing could have prepared the World Wide Web for the casting of Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.

Just when we thought the polls were over, the public calls for recasting. Yes folks, apparently fans of the books and alternative actors have taken to the net once more!

They are calling for the recasting of the roles, preferring that Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel be recast in the starring roles.

While Charlie Hunnam (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) may still be facing some backlash after their controversial casting, Fifty Shades producer Dana Brunetti is still in their corner, and the choices.

He tweeted saying that “there is more than just looks that went in hiring the two for the roles; talent, availability, the desire to do it as well as chemistry with other actor was a big part of it. Anyone who has read the books should know just how important that last requirement is for the success of the film since the books explode with chemistry between the two lead characters.”

He concluded: “So if your favourite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective.”

So, though Daniel might have a lack of desire to play the role of Christian Grey, he is certainly not lacking in desire for “Roar” singer, Katy Perry.

He has previously admitted to having “a huge crush” on the Grammy award winning singer.

In his interview, he joked that he was “mentally close to Katy Perry” but otherwise doesn’t have the courage to have an actual physical conversation with her even when he’s in the same room as her.
