With the Glee cast in the midst of filming the tribute episode for star Cory Monteith, it is unsurprising that any time a cast member makes a public appearance, talk quickly moves to how they are coping.
Matthew Morrison spoke on Sunday when he attended James Franco’s roast, meanwhile on the same night over on the East Coast, Darren Criss and Naya Rivera were fielding questions while walking the VMA red carpet.
Confirming what we expected, Criss said that “we’re shooting [the episode] right now. It’s tough to shoot”. Rivera agreed saying, “It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. It is the hardest thing to do. It’s been the worst week ever”.
Criss remarked on the importance of the episode, stating that: “It’s something that needs to happen for the fans… it’s going to be tough”. Criss added that the episode will be, “very poignant and hopefully very moving, and just that: a tribute. Hopefully it will be a good tribute to Cory”.
With sources stating that the episode is “so good” and will have viewers in tears “from beginning to end”, it is safe to say that it certainly will be.
Along with news about the Cory tribute, Criss and Rivera were asked about the addition of X Factor judge Demi Lovato to the season 5 cast. Despite hearing of the casting via Twitter (“I guess that’s just how things break”), Rivera is “excited” to be working with her, letting us in on Lovato’s relationship with Rivera’s Santana: “We have a duet together, and we’re going to be working very closely, so it’ll be awesome”.
