David Duchovny Discusses X-Files 3 During Reddit AMA With Gillian Anderson

It’s hard to believe that last month marked the 20th anniversary since The X-Files first brought its conspiracy theories, monsters-of-the-week and that all important Mulder/Scully Unresolved Sexual Tension (UST) to our TV screens week after week. Now eleven years after closing the final case file on television and four years since the last big screen outing (2009’s The X-Files: I Want To Believe), the people who brought FBI’s most unwanted to life, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, took part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) discussion this morning. The event was tied in with the duo’s appearance this afternoon at a special reunion panel at the New York Comic Con, similar to the one held in San Diego in July. One of the things that fans most want the intel on is the rumoured third X-Files film, and Duchovny didn’t fail to deliver. “I think Chris [Carter, the creator of The X-Files] is working on a script. Chris is shooting a pilot right now, so he might not be working on a script, but he claims to be working on a script, and if he does do that and Fox wants to make it … Gillian will do it, I will do it, so start your writing campaign now. Seriously. We'd all love to do it. The ball is in Fox's hands. And not Fox Mulder, Fox the studio.” He went on to joke that the film needs to happen soon because “We want to see Obama's picture in the office… We don't want to leave it off at the X-Bush.” The picture and office he refers to is the framed picture of current US President that hangs outside the Assistant Director of the FBI’s office. See this clip from I Want To Believe below: While Duchovny would love to see Obama’s picture hanging there, he also wouldn’t mind seeing the first female US President represented. “Or we'd love Hillary up there. Hillary and Mitch Pileggi [the actor who played Assistant Director Skinner] as the attorney general.” To take a trip down memory lane, or to find out what the duo are now up to or just to re-experience the amazing bantering chemistry between the two, head over to Reddit to catch up on the full discussion.
