@DJSoundBite I love Marvel! I have liked all the movies (yes even Iron Man 2) and although there can always be improvements, Stan Lee will always own my heart for what he created…but here I have a problem. In a movie it is possible for everyone (including the main character) to die, and while most producers won’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg; it is always a possibility…in a TV series not so much (except Game of Thrones). While Skye was dying, not for one second did feel invested in this episode because we KNEW she would be back for next week. Even Coulson who DID die came back from the dead, so if we know there is a magic drug that can fix everything, why am I worried about anyone? Anyway the story goes like this… Following on from the mid-season break, Skye has been shot and is brought to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Trauma unit is Switzerland. After hours of operating the doctors say there is nothing that can be done. Coulson says there were Doctors who brought him back to life, they can do the same. He proceeds to tell the team that he was dead, that his heart was torn in two but there was a drug that repaired the damage. The conflict for this episode is S.H.I.E.L.D. has ordered Coulson and the team to hand over Quinn but they refused while Skye is still dying. They send planes to intercept and Agent Garret (who has history with Coulson and was Wards former SO) and Agent Tripp come to collect him. Coulson asks why he is really here and it turns out Garret has been after Quinn as well. Tripp and Ward know each other but get into a fight because he won’t give him over. Garret convinces HQ that they can interrogate Quinn on the plane. Now we have the cast together, the race is on to find the mysterious hidden location where Coulson came back to us. After trolling through the records, they find a ‘disused’ WW2 bunker which seems the likely location. The two guards don’t let them in and the team infiltrate, kill the guards, and go looking for the miracle drug (known as GH325). The place is set to explode but the team find the drug at the same time Coulson finds a room called “T.A.H.I.T.I.” Inside the room the drug is made from a big blue an alien titled G.H. The compound explodes, Skye is given the drug, Garret takes Quinn off to S.H.I.E.L.D., everyone is happy. …I’m bloody not! Here is the problem guys; there is too much going on and this one episode has managed to get 100 more questions on top of the ones we still don’t know. Here are some we were still asking before the break:
  • Why is Skye a ‘084’?
  • Who is the Clairvoyant and what is his end game?
  • Why did S.H.I.E.L.D. order Coulson back from the dead?
  • How will they get Mike Peterson back from the clutches of Centipede (and the Deathlock Project)?
That alone should be enough to run a series on, but after today’s episode we have even more questions:
  • What happened to Dr. Streitien (The doctor who worked on Coulson) & why did S.H.I.E.L.D. use this facility that is not part of them
  • Why is the Alien called G.H. and where did it come from (Asguard?)
  • Why is the Clairvoyant unable to see what happened to Coulson?
  • If a drug exists that can help repair damaged cells and it is of Alien origin why hasn’t SHIELD claimed it?
Joss Whedon, I am a big fan of your work, but let’s finish one story before we start another one. There is too much going on for us to follow and get invested in. If that wasn’t bad enough, the post credit scene is an Asguardian who bewitches a new husband with magic to drive her out of the desert (and leave his new wife behind). Her name is Lorali (Amora the Sorceress sister) and next week Lady Sif is here to bring her back…..screw Asguard! I just want to stories concluded here on Earth FIRST! Episode rating: 2/5.
