Demi Lovato fears that she will end up in rehab if she drinks or smokes again. The 21-year-old popstar, who has previously been in rehab for addiction issues and self-harm, admits that she can no longer indulge in alcohol in a “responsible” way. In an interview with OK! Magazine Lovato said: “Some people can smoke and drink recreationally. I’m not one of those people. If I do that I will spiral out of control very quickly. I’ve lost that privilege.” She then went on to say: “I’ve definitely struggled a lot with drug and alcohol addictions – even more than with my eating disorder.” The popstar admitted that she struggled with her addictions when her father died, but knew that giving into one addiction could lead to another. She said: "I decided to stay strong when my father died. I worked so hard on my sobriety - I wasn't going to give it up. When I feel like I want to give up I think to myself, 'No, what about the 17-year-old girl that's been free of self-harming for nine months?' If I give up my sobriety, that would mean it would be OK for her to go back to self-harming.'' The X-Factor judge recently opened up about her excessive cocaine addiction, revealing to Access Hollywood that she “couldn’t go 30 minutes without it.” Let’s hope Lovato continues to be strong and focus on her career. Demi Lovato will resume judging duties on The X Factor USA final on December 18.
