Demi Lovato stood out amongst her musical peers yesterday (we’re looking at you, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber) when she lamented the planet’s obsession with twerking.
“Can the world stop talking about twerking please?” she posted to her Twitter millions.
Such a simple question; so many implications! It really does seem that the entire social media world has gone twerking mad.
We feel as though Miley’s VMA performance may have contributed to this. But Demi was quick to halt any feuding rumours, tweeting:
Btw – no shade thrown.. Don’t even try to start that crap. Haha… the term twerking just needs to disappear like the word swag does too..

Whilst we can sympathise with Demi’s plight, we don’t think these words are going anywhere. Especially not now that the dictionary – nope, not the urban dictionary, the actual dictionary – has decided to include the term “twerking” in its next incarnation.
Language will always grow as culture develops, but we also understand that too much of anything can become a headache.
I just don’t know what happened to the word “dancing”…. Can I getta amen?!!
— demetria lovato (@ddlovato)
Amen Demi, Amen.
Anybody disagree with the Lovatic Queen on this?
