‘Despicable Me 3’ New Trailer Talk

Gru and the Minions are back in Despicable Me 3! In addition to a new villain, Gru finds out about Dru, his twin brother!

Attention my Minions! The latest Despicable Me 3 trailer just dropped and it looks hilarious!

While the first trailer gave a large share of its screen time to the new rock star villain, Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), this particular trailer relies on one large plot point that up until now we didn’t know about: Gru (Steve Carell) has a twin brother named Dru! And surprise, he’s played by Steve Carell also. And while the first trailer we got had the Minions used sparingly with none of Gru’s daughters to be seen, this one reassures its fan audience that Minions will be back aplenty, and that Margo, Edith, and Agnes will indeed be having some more adventures of their own. Lucy (Kristen Wiig), Gru’s wife, will be back in this third film as well.

This addition of Dru certainly adds more to the story rather than Gru just facing another foe, so we can be glad for that. And the twin brother will certainly set up some great moments of hilarity and hijinks, funny banter, and some form of competition leading to them unwillingly teaming up as bros.

It’s sort of hard to believe that this will be the fourth Despicable Me universe film, and the third official Despicable Me movie. Sequels happen so much these days that it becomes hard to marinate in a franchise before its done. The first film came out in just 2010. Of course, what’s to stop them from making a fourth film? Both Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013) were very enjoyable and box office successes, so if the third one continues the streak, they might as well keep at it. The less said about Minions (2015) the better. Just know that unfortunately a Minions 2 (2020) is in development.

Despicable Me 3 will star the voice talents of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Jenny Slate, Trey Parker, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, and oh, Steve Carell again. It projectiles itself into theatres on June 30, 2017.
