The nominees for the 2014 International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) awards have been announced and PopWrapped favourites Destroy the Alpha Gammas have scooped up nominations in five, yes five, categories. “The IAWTV Awards celebrates the best in digital entertainment. Established for digital content creators by digital content creators, they are voted on by the digital entertainment professionals who comprise the IAWTV membership” Nominated for Best Directing (Comedy) is Scott Brown. “We came together over six days and set out to tell a musical the way it should be told. In a large scale, with the camera acting as an active participant in the musical numbers, and an aesthetic that captured the experience of college. It is my belief we were able to pull that off…. As a director I believe that over the shots and the style my most important duty is to tell the story in a consistent, original, and emotionally true way.” Nominated for Best Editing is Phil Bucci. “DAG was an incredibly fun show to work on for me.  When you have a show that hits comedic, romantic, sexy and dramatic beats, the next scene is something you want to dive into.” Nominated for Best Original Score. “Destroy the Alpha Gammas is a comedy, however the music covers a wide variety of emotions and styles. The biggest challenge was creating a unified sound while having completely different genres of music (we basically cover styles from techno to classical).” Nominated for Best Art Design (Art Direction/Production) is Nicole Vardi. “Every minute of filming was spontaneous, unexpected and exciting… You really have to be creative with space, especially when it’s limited. My biggest challenge was taking one single room and creating three different ones to show three distinct styles that illustrate the personality of each character.” Nominated for Best Cinematography is Boa Simon. “With 7 episodes of story, 8 or more characters in most scenes, two or more musical numbers per episode, and only 6 days of principle photography, Destroy the Alpha Gammas was a project of unyielding scale. Most musical sequences had us lighting the entire ensemble cast for two cameras, and we shot two songs each day of production; we kept up with the pace our short schedule dictated by keeping a lighting team building one or two scenes ahead of us while we were shooting the current setup.” As a result of their nominations the team at DAG have released a For Your Consideration video that highlights the accomplishments of the nominees. [youtube=http://youtu.be/oNjYFVk9h8A]   If you don’t already know what Destroy the Alpha Gammas is, first, shame on you, second, imagine taking Glee, Greek and Mean Girls and putting them in a blender, adding a handful of awesome, a pinch of world class bitchiness and a dash of revenge and you get the comedy web-series of the year, Destroy the Alpha Gammas. I would like to say an enormous congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Destroy the Alpha Gammas on their nominations and I will have all my fingers crossed for everyone involved on January 7 when the awards are handed out. Stay cool Destroyers... Until next time. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
