Devin Kennedy drops “You & Me, That’s Enough” EP

Devin Kennedy by Matthew Peters

Berklee College of Music graduate, Devin Kennedy has just dropped his new EP, “You & Me, That’s Enough”. The EP is a collection of love tracks that are sure to have you wanting more and more. Co-Written and produced by himself, the EP starts off with an upbeat, soft, smooth track “Champagne for Two”, which will have you hooked and already loving the vibe.

“Earlier this year I made a promise to myself to dedicate more time to my artist project. I wrote over 200 songs, honed the sound, found my message and chose these 4 songs to release. Writing that much it required me to dig really deep into my everyday life and find topics and concepts to talk about. Devin told us. ” Finding the sound was part of the journey, but figuring out what I wanted to say as an artist in 2019 was the hardest part. Though it was difficult, I’m making music I love and  I’m so excited about how these songs turned out, so I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In 2018, Devin released a handful of singles that were very well received by the general public as well as some higher-ups in the music industry. You can find his music on rotation on a lot of your favorite radio stations, as well as on the “Today at Apple” playlist, which plays in Apple stores Nationwide.

“There are two sides to this one (Champagne for Two). Yes, It’s inspired by personal experience down to the smallest detail, which is what I try to do in all my songs. Conceptually, I think we can all relate to this in some way though. To put it in the broadest terms, “Champagne” is about feeling lucky to know the people you know. I’m in such an amazing place right now, surrounded by hard-working people that I love, and so much of the time I just feel so lucky to have the friends and family that I have. That’s what fully inspired the song. There’s a line in the second verse that sums it up well, “She can call the shots, the time and places. If I’m in the plans that’s my motivation”.

The inspiration behind an artists title for their projects usually has some sort of meaning behind it. Devin tells us that “No Worries” helped influence the title of the EP. “This is such a special song for me. It came at a time where I was really trying to figure out what was next for me sound-wise, and it felt so natural and awesome right away, I fell in love with it. The EP is about genuinely connecting with yourself and your people…Taking the time to relax with loved ones, and enjoying every moment you can with the people you care about, money, stress, and work aside. The line “You & Me, That’s Enough” seemed to really sum up the message of this project really well.

Devin’s irresistible baritone continues to have us feeling all the good vibes throughout this whole EP. “Something Bout That Feeling” is melodic, smooth, mid-tempo perfection that adds a little extra oomph to the EP. Though it sounds a little bit different than the rest of the EP, and talks about being comfortable in your loneliness, Devin makes it feel peaceful and okay.

Unfortunately, the EP comes to a close with “The Way It Goes”. However, more music from Devin isn’t going to be too far out. “I am working on a lot of new music. I’ve had some exciting developments behind the scenes in the last few months that will help me get on the road faster and get more music out sooner rather than later. What I can confirm right now is that there will be at least an albums worth of music coming next year. It will most likely not drop in the form of an album, but lots of songs coming. Devin told us.

It is safe to say that when it comes to pop music, Devin is different from what you are used to hearing on the radio. With that being said, he is definitely an artist you’re going to want to have on your radar. You can follow Devin on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. “You & Me, That’s Enough” is available on all platforms, now.
