British-Irish boyband One Direction’s quest to take over the world continues as they came close to shutting down parts of London and parts of the internet yesterday (August 20) during the world premiere for their upcoming movie.

Hordes of ‘Directioners’ swarmed to London’s Empire cinema in Leicester Square in order to see the group as they arrived at the premiere, some of whom had been camping for days in order to be close to their idols, the most dedicated arriving as early as Sunday.

Extra police were stationed at the scene as a precaution, and warnings were placed on London’s underground tube network, one of which was captured by actor Stephen Fry on his twitter.

It is also suspected over 3.6 million tweets were posted relating to the This Is Us debut, which tells the story of the boy band’s rise to fame onThe X Factor and their subsequent worldwide success.
