@MargiePatton Lucasfilm and Disney have announced Josh Trank as the director of a forthcoming standalone film as part of the newly rebooted Star Wars movie universe. No title or plot details for the film have been released. The project will be separate from the new Star Wars trilogy, kicking off with J.J. Abram’s Episode VII, which is filming now. Trank, who is currently working on a reboot of Fantastic Four, released a statement saying, “The magic of the Star Wars universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.” Disney recently revealed that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will also be making a standalone Star Wars film. Disney chief Bob Iger has previously stated the company plans to release at least three standalone Star Wars features in the next decade in addition to the new trilogy.
