Fresh off the success of their latest animated feature, Frozen, Disney Studio’s have announced their next venture into the world of animated goodness. Moana will come to us from the directors of Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, John Musker and Ron Clements and as Bleeding Cool have reported it is expected that they are going to try and incorporate the ambitious technique of blending the hand drawn with digital animations. While Moana is still a long ways away, set for a 2018 release at this stage, Disney have given us a small insight into what the film may entail. “The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey. The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.” Still in its very early stages of life, there is little information to add at this point with the exception of Clements confirming that the new project would indeed be a musical. Considering that Musker and Clements are the men behind some of the greatest animated musicals to date, and with Mark Mancina (The Lion King) in charge of the musical arrangement, I can safely say that I am very excited to see what they can come up with for Moana. Stay tuned to PopWrapped for more information as it comes to light.
