A new Indiana Jones reboot
is in the works by Disney, and the actor they’re considering to take on the hat and whip is none other than Chris Pratt!
The project is still in the development stages and things could change between now and then, but Pratt is currently the top pick for the role.
The last Indiana Jones
movie was released in 2008, with The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
earning a 78% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and starring Harrison Ford reprising his original role.
Pratt and Disney are working on several major franchise reboots in the next several years, with Pratt starring in Jurassic World
and being announced recently to star in The Magnificent Seven
and Disney releasing Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens
in December, with Ford reprising his role in that universe as well.
Disney’s casting seems to be on point with this role, adding a second win after the announcement of Emma Watson as Belle
in a live-action Beauty and the Beast
My only fear is Pratt getting sucked into a career cycle of playing douchey-yet-lovable action movie characters, which Indiana Jones fits the bill for. I’d like to see him try something new, in a bit more of a serious role and build up more experience.
I do wonder if they’ll sneak in a Harrison Ford cameo somehow…
But let’s hope he does get to play our favorite archaeologist/adventurer, and we get a great reboot!
