The Imagineers at Disney have come together with director James Cameron to build a whole new world based on Cameron's hit movie Avatar for it's Animal Kingdom theme park.
Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes video showing concepts for the attraction and features that they hope to include in the ambitious "Avatar Land" project.
James Cameron says, “I think one of the things that people loved about the movie is that they felt as if they had visited Pandora… now, thanks to Disney’s amazing Imagineers, people are going to truly experience Pandora firsthand. From the details in the plants to the production and design, extraordinary thought and care has gone into this entire world. The teams have really created something special, and it’s not going to be like anything else.”
The team is working to bring all of the amazing elements of the movie to life. The floating mountains, bioluminescent walkways, and even flying banshees are just a few things seen in the movie that are being added to the park's newest project. Their goal? To make the experience as similar to the movie as possible.
"Pandora" is looking to open in 2017 as a part of the Animal Kingdom's attraction list, which is also the year that the highly anticipated Avatar sequel is set to release. See what they did there? Brilliant!
The Avatar project is said to be unlike anything Disney guests have seen before, as well as being unlike anything Disney Imagineers have dreamed up before.
