The two newest Lego sets will be sending builders into the future, as it has been revealed that Lego will officially produce building sets based on Pixar’s Wall-E as well as perennial sci-fi favorite Doctor Who. Both sets are a result of the “Lego Ideas” campaign, in which fans can suggest ideas for new sets which are then voted on on the Lego Ideas website. Any fan idea with over 10,000 votes becomes eligible to be reviewed by the head honchos at Lego and has the potential to be made into a real set.Wall-E and Doctor Who were two of eight sets that reached the 10,000 vote mark between June and September 2014 and been reviewed. The sets beat out other awesome sounding sets such as the X-Men’s X-Mansion and Star Wars Lightsabers.
The Doctor Who set in particular has the potential to be a real crowd pleaser and not only amongst collectors. Due to The Doctor’s time traveling and space hopping nature, past Lego sets depicting anything from space stations to medieval castles to prehistoric times would be a great fit for the addition of a Lego TARDIS.
Details for both sets including release dates are to be announced at a later date.
