Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat has hinted that Peter Capaldi will be retaining his natural Scottish brogue when he takes over as the 12th Doctor later this year.
In the latest edition of the official magazine that accompanies the hit BBC show, Moffat drops a few hints about how the newest Time Lord will shape up. Along with saying that we will be finally getting another Scottish Time Lord, Moffat also discussed that there have been no firm costume choices made for the new Doctor.
He also talked about the choice to go for an older actor after the two younger choices of David Tennant and Matt Smith. Moffat wanted to flip it around and that this Doctor will be older, trickier and fiercer. Another topic that was brought up was Clara’s reaction to this new incarnation, and Moffat thinks it will fun to see how Clara reacts to this totally different doctor. Moffat shares, “Just as Clara’s learning to have a proper old crush on him, suddenly he’s Malcolm Tucker!”
I think that the regeneration process from Smith to Capaldi has the potential to be the most interesting yet, and I for one cannot wait.
