Episode four of Doctor Who
's eight season looks set to send a new generation scurrying behind their sofas...
"Listen", penned by Steven Moffat and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, looks to be the spooky episode of the series.. with something hiding under your bed the main focus of the trailer.
The Moff is well known for writing about childhood fears: the dark, shadows, dust, statues, and clocks have each received the terrifying treatment. But this looks to be on a whole new level.
The official synopsis reads: "When ghosts of the past and future crowd into their lives, the Doctor and Clara are thrown into an adventure that takes them to the very end of the universe. What happens when the Doctor is alone? And what scares the grand old man of Time and Space?"
Chilling stuff. The Doctor has already been tested this year, with his beliefs questioned on an almost weekly basis, first with the concept of heaven, then a good Dalek and Robin Hood, but "Listen" is questioning the Doctor's fears.
One thing is for sure, maths teacher and possible Clara love interest, Danny Pink, is back this week. The ex-soldier, now maths teacher clearly has a major part to play. Samuel Anderson (Danny Pink) will also be playing "Orson Pink" in the episode, leading to LOTS of questions. Is he from the past or future? Father or son? Is he related to Clara if they decide to settle down at the end of the series...?
The only thing that's certain is that this is an episode Whovians are going to be very vocal about...
