Look after the universe for me. I've put a lot of work into it.
Well, this is a surprise!
We folk in the UK always wonder why the BBC choose to debut prologues and trailers in the US before we've even got a glimpse at them, so it was quite the shock when BBC iPlayer launched the exclusive prologue for Doctor Who Season 9 on our shores before anywhere else!
Obviously we can't hardcode it into this news piece due to the content being on iPlayer, suffice to say the video is here should you wish to divulge in some brand new Capaldi scowling. Who wouldn't, right?
What do we see in this prologue -- which, looks to be a prologue to er, a prologue which will premiere in the US soon -- then? Well, eagle-eyed viewers will recognise the woman Capaldi is talking to as Ohila of the Sisterhood of Karn, a mysterious woman who creates regeneration potions ('life elixirs'), first seen in Paul McGann's regeneration story 'The Night of the Doctor', played by Clare Higgins.
It seems we see a Doctor who (ha!) is still reeling from the events at the end of Season 8 and hiding out from the rest of the universe -- specifically Missy, otherwise known as lifelong frenemy The Master.
This prologue is under two minutes but bridges the gap nicely between Season 8 and 9, which premieres on BBC One on September 19th with 'The Magicians Apprentice'. American audiences will also see it on the same day on BBC America.
Just over a week to go, Whovians!
