Despite only being around for one season, the Ninth Doctor, played fantastically by Christopher Eccleston, made a lasting impression on the hearts of many fans. His Doctor was the one used to draw millions of fans back to Doctor Who after a lengthy television hiatus and was the first Doctor for a generation of viewers.

Eccleston's brief time on the show didn't allow for many adventures to be had for the Ninth Doctor and Rose, and gave fellow fan favourite Captain Jack an even shorter period of time to explore time and space with the duo. Thankfully, Titan Comics has announced a new Doctor Who ongoing series, to join existing ones featuring the Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors, respectively.

A five-issue mini series featuring the Ninth Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack Harkness recently completed its run, and Titan has confirmed that the ongoing series will also feature Rose and Jack along with Nine.

Cavan Scott, who authored the mini series, has returned for at least the first three storylines. Adriana Melo will provide the artwork. Prior knowledge of the events of the mini-series won't be required to enjoy the new ongoing run. Scott said that:

The new ongoing series kicks off a new era and a new mission for this much-loved TARDIS team. Along the way they'll encounter old friends and foes a swell as startling new faces. I've been blown away by the love for Doctor Number Nine that I've seen at comic cons and signings over the last year. It's a real privilege to be continuing the Ninth Doctor's story. It really is the trip of a lifetime.

The publisher will also release a miniseries featuring the Eight Doctor, played by Paul McGann. It would appear that the success of these miniseries could dictate whether or not an ongoing run is on the horizon, so if the adventures of the Eight Doctor interest you at all, I'd recommend you contact your local comic book shop and get this book added to your pull list (or, better yet, start a pull list and put this book on it. Then add the Ninth Doctor's adventures.)

Titan Comics nor Scott have revealed any details about what fans can expect to see in terms of plot, or exactly who those familiar friends and foes could be. Give us your best wild speculation int he comments, and we'll come back and see who was right when the book is released.
