Who else is ready for the round EVERY Idol contestant worries about??
Last nights cliffhanger left us on the verge of the beginning of the dreaded group round, and tonight delivered one of the craziest in the
In an amazing intro, a group named 3 More Days hit the stage first. The group consisted of David Oliver Willis, Sirena Joi Crowe, and Tony Foster. They were actually all former contestants in previous seasons. Their harmonies were out of this world good, but the judges felt someone was a little short with the performance, and that was Tony Foster. Sirena and David went through to the next round.
Following that was Idol's version of a country boy band who went front & center as Ben Briley, Casey Thrasher and Dexter Roberts performed as the Backstreet Cowboys. The clever name was a nod toward their song choice, "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys. The charming trio were quickly given a unanimous vote of YES by all 3 judges.
The day was just getting started though.
Early favorite Spencer Lloyd was in a bit of a jam, as his group fell to unfortunate forgotten lyrics. Megan and Spencer were given a second chance, but one very angry Alyssa was sent packing.
The wear and tear of the competition was starting to show as early favorites were cut (including one of my personal faves Austin Percario), although some others (like Caleb Johnson and CJ Harris) were soared! The judges were showing tough love, and the axed contestants were exactly agreeing with their decisions.
But when do they ever?
Taking the stage next was group Clarity, which consisted of Allie Odom, Jena Asciutto, Sikenya Thompson and Munfarid Zaidi (whom you'll remember as the contestant Harry cradled during his audition.)
The group managed to deliver a passable performance even though there was drama with Sikenya, who had come down with the flu. The judges found 3 of the 4 good enough to move on, but unfortunately sent Allie Odom packing.
The hour had winded down however, and group round was almost wrapped up.
Love's Angels (Terrica Curry, Carmen Deligna, Emmanuel Zidor) had their share of problems during rehearsals and when it came to crunch time, Harry wasn't impressed with their performance. Emmanuel wound up being the only one that would advance.
That was a wrap for group day!
Next week, the 77 remaining contestants get one more shot to perform live for the judges in hopes of of making the Top 30!
